6 Steps in Preparing for a Successful MSP/VMS Implementation

As organizations continue to find creative ways to control costs, many have accelerated their plans to deploy VMS and MSP solutions. While they are going through the selection process, there are several preparation steps they can take to help reduce the time to implement the MSP/VMS solution:

  1. Obtain Executive Sponsorship – To ensure the success of any MSP/VMS deployment, it is critical that key Procurement and HR executives are involved to drive program adoption and policy enforcement.
  2. Engage Business Stakeholders to Communicate the Value Proposition – Effective change management centers around the benefits recognized by the business stakeholders and their willingness to participate in the program.
  3. Socialize with Key Suppliers – Begin socializing the program benefits with key suppliers to ensure they won’t create obstacles to the program deployment. Most suppliers are very familiar with MSP/VMS programs and understand the benefits to their organizations. Focus efforts on niche suppliers and those who have long-standing relationships within the organization.
  4. Identify IT Resources to Enable Integrations – Integrating into the ERP environment and security systems will ensure process efficiency and data accuracy. While the amount of coding should be minimal, the IT organization will be called upon to configure the integrations and enable file transmission.
  5. Identify the Project Team – Assign members of the core and extended project team. Obtain the availability of those resources to focus during the implementation time frame.
  6. Collect Data – Collate supplier contracts, rate cards, lists of existing contractors and any other policies and procedures that can be used as a baseline.
