IQNdex Data Illustrates Contrasting Temporary Labor Trends Across Job Sectors and Geographic Regions
DENVER, January 31, 2012 – IQNavigator Inc., a leading provider of services e-procurement solutions to Global 2000 companies, today released the findings from its Year-End 2011 IQNdex research paper. Published on a monthly basis, IQNdex provides a price index of temporary labor bill rates by job sector and U.S. Geographic Regions, with the Year-End IQNdex providing summary and analysis of trends and findings.
As part of IQNdex, the Master U.S. IQNdex provides the highest level view of temporary bill rate trends over the past four years. Summarizing millions of data points derived from actual market transactions, the Master IQNdex reflects contingent labor price changes across all regions and job sectors.
For December 2011, the Master U.S. IQNdex stands at 104.0, a decrease of 0.3 from November 2011, and a year-over-year increase from 99.3 from December 2010. A four percent total increase over the past four years suggests Global 2000 companies have successfully controlled bill rate increases despite growing demand for non-permanent workers and intense competition for workers with critical skill sets. The Year-End IQNdex research paper studies these and other key findings in 2011 such as:
Low upward rate pressure on bill rates for non-permanent labor in the second half of 2011
Exceptions to the overall U.S. trends and unique illustrations of how the temporary labor market differs significantly across various job sectors and geographic regions in the U.S.
The relationship between unemployment levels and temporary labor rates
Graph 1: Master IQNdex (temporary worker rate change) vs. Ratio of Unemployed to Job Openings
Additionally, the Year-End IQNdex provides noteworthy Hot and Cool Spots in rate trends, such as:
Professional-Managerial sector rates rose rapidly through much of the year, but flattened somewhat in the final quarter of 2011, with the highest rate increase in financial regulation/reporting roles such as Auditor, Tax Accountant and Regulatory Compliance Analyst.
Technical-IT rate increases remain restrained at year end overall, while some roles showed an annual increase of over 10 percent such as Systems Architect, Systems Integration, Software Tester/QA and Quality Control/testing.
“The Year-End IQNdex research paper provides a big picture view that ties together many of the threads of data we collected, analyzed and published throughout 2011,” states John F. Martin, chief technology officer and CEO of Emerging Markets for IQNavigator. “IQNdex shows that the labor market has some significant differences when analyzing bill rate trends according to differing job sectors and geographic regions.”
The Year-End 2011 IQNdex research paper is available for download at http://www.iqntelligence.com. Clients of IQNavigator can also request custom market rate analyses (MarketIQ) and detailed benchmark rate reports (RateIQ) via their IQNavigator account manager.
